Migrate Existing Harvesters from 2.3 to 2.8 #152

User Story: As a data.gov administrator, I want to use the existing legacy harvesters with CKAN v2.8 while the new Harvesters using the Next Generation architecture are being tested/assessed.

Task:

[ ] Upgrade existing Harvesters in CKAN 2.3 codebase to work in CKAN 2.8
[ ] Test migrated Harvesters

Acceptance Criteria:

[ ] Harvesting jobs currently working on existing 2.3 codebase works using CKAN 2.8

@jqnatividad can you list the extensions that we plan on working on?

@adborden, the two harvesting extensions are:

GSA/ckanext-geodatagov
GSA/ckanext-datajson

Ah, only the Data.gov harvesters? Great, so have we confirmed that ckanext-harvest and ckanext-spatial are already good to go?

Yes. We are focusing only on the Data.gov harvesters as those two extensions are widely used and are known to already work on 2.8.

@estebanruseler and @avdata99 to determine if an additional tickets is required for making sure it works on both data.gov and ckan cloud

I think now that we've clarified the value and the goal for this work, we can fold the remaining tasks into https://github.com/GSA/datagov-ckan-multi/issues/213 and close this.
