Acceptance Criteria

• [x] When creating/editing a dataset using new metadata form,
  • [x] I can select a publisher
  • [x] I can select a publisher from the relevant list to my CKAN organization only
• [ ] I can import list of publishers per CKAN organization using a CLI command
• [ ] I can manage list of publishers in a google spreadsheet and use it when I need to import to CKAN (inventory app)

Details / tasks

• [x] Implement a CKAN command for importing publishers from a CSV file (for details see the discovery issue's thread).

• [x] Refactor frontend app (metadata) to fetch publishers information from the CKAN API (org show or similar). Consider situation when a user has access to multiple organizations.

@cmugisha moved this ticket to QA. Although right now deployment to sandbox failed due to a wider Jenkins issue in the GSA ecosystem. Awaiting any updates on this from @avdata99 or @adborden

When testing this story, please, use GSA CKAN org as only that org has publishers imported. If you use other orgs, you can't select publisher as no publishers available at the moment. Cc @hkdctol

@adborden am I testing on https://inventory.sandbox.datagov.us/ ? When I select GSA organization and add a dataset I'm not seeing a list of Publishers relevant to GSA

Hi @hkdctol @adborden this is the list of publishers we've added to "GSA" CKAN organization in the sandbox:

• General Services Administration
• Office of Governmentwide Policy
• Office of Chief Technology Officer
• Data.gov

This list is based on previous publishers list which wasn't linked to CKAN orgs. We've just looked for all publishers that have "General Services Administration" as a top level publisher. I guess the list isn't accurate but hope it is good enough for testing purposes.

@anuveyatsu thanks for that clarification I DO now see those organizations associated with GSA org in inventory sandbox. Now I think it's a matter of making sure we have a list to work from and confirming how the choices in this field are updated with the list as it changes?

@hkdctol yes, the idea from our discovery work was that a list of publishers would be managed in a spreadsheet and once ready it can be imported into CKAN using the command line tool. Below is the example of how the publishers would look like in a table (spreadsheet). Note that the first column is organization which refers to CKAN org (owner org of a dataset):

Okay, I will update the spreadsheet to include the organization column and link it from the README. Then Hyon can make changes to the spreadsheet and we can update the publishers.
