Hello. Good question. We do allow up to 10,000 requests per day without triggering any of our own internal systems or alarms. If a customer sends more than 10,000 requests within a day, it will initiate some investigation or action on our side.
Thank you,
Erik
Thanks @ErikSArnold! This info is very helpful. I do not anticipate having that high of volume on a per/day basis at this time. Is there a formal process/contact we would need to follow if/when we anticipate reaching over 10,000 calls/day?
Thanks again. Jay
If you know you are going to exceed that limit, you may send an email to:
usasearch@gsa.gov
and someone will get in touch with you. Thanks,
Erik
We are creating a website that allows users to subscribe to vehicle recall alerts using the NHTSA recall db/API.
Are there specific/documented limits on api usage/calls for a given time period?
thanks.
Below is the portion of the terms that refers to usage:
http://www.usa.gov/About/developer-resources/terms-of-service.shtml
Per the terms of service: Right to Limit Use of the APIs may be subject to certain limitations on access, calls, or use as set forth within this Agreement or otherwise provided by GSA. If GSA reasonably believes that you have attempted to exceed or circumvent these limits, your ability to use the API may be permanently or temporarily blocked.
GSA may monitor your use of its services to improve the service or to insure compliance with this Agreement.
