Think through first TTS bizdev questions #315

Think about these questions - what clarifications we would need, and ideas we have for solutions.

Pages:

Cloud.gov:

USWDS:

gbinal commented 2 years ago

Here's some initial analysis and thoughts:

What is the addressable market for the Pages product (i.e. how many static websites are there within the federal government? How is that spread across agencies? Across HISPs?)

We can't answer this at the moment, but I think the best ways to generate this are scan for CMS, scan for federalist, and scan for hosting.

What is the growth rate of static websites?

We can't answer this at the moment, as it would rely on us beginning to generate data like ^^^^.

What is the addressable market for cloud.gov?

Seeking clarification.

What is the current adoption rate of USWDS across all federal websites?

We have this data but need to get specific about how this is defined. Will follow up...

Across HISP websites?

Need the list of websites for this first.

Update: We later heard back that we can deprioritize this question (which exactly are the HISP websites), as they haven't startede USWDS analysis yet.

Are the most visited websites using USWDS?

Need clarification about what the list of websites being specified is, then will need to get specific about what it means to use USWDS. At that point though, we have this data and should be able to answer this question.

If not, are they accessible and/or mobile-optimized?

We do not have data for this.

Re: a11y, we don't have any plans to scan for this anymore (we've already done it twice in the past to little effect). re: mobile-optimized, we don't have that data yet, but could scan for it.

RE: What is the addressable market for cloud.gov? If the target user for cloud.gov is [from a small / medium agency, from an agency that has not migrated to an enterprise cloud, building these types of applications, maybe there other attributes?], can site scanner directionally point us to those users / agencies by filtering for those attributes?

We can't answer this at the moment, but I think the best ways to generate this are https://github.com/GSA/site-scanning/issues/311, scan for federalist, and https://github.com/GSA/site-scanning/issues/314.

that works for me!

Thanks, @ddaga11. Two more questions for you:

Maybe we could replicate and scan for this on an ongoing basis?

Thanks, @ddaga11. Two more questions for you:

  • What are the HISP websites?
  • Re: the most visited pages (link to the itif report), can you clarify what you mean exactly. Looking at that site, I am assuming that you mean the 100 top most visited websites according to DAP, but I wasn't entirely sure.

HISP websites = the websites of high impact service providers (like, all of CMS's public facing websites)

and yes, I mean the 100 top most visited sites according to DAP
