The Files submenu can't be accessed with the mouse, only by keyboard navigation. Trying to click to open the menu causes the entire menu to disappear.
Steps to reproduce
Click on "Mount" in the GSConnect menu. The menu disappears and the device is mounted.
Click on "Files ⏵" in the menu, which has replaced the "Mount" item. The menu disappears and nothing happens.
Hover over the "Files ⏵" item, but instead of clicking, press right on the keyboard. The Files submenu now appears.
Expected behavior
It should be possible the access the items on the Files submenu using the mouse.

Notes
I imagine that this is caused by some change in Gnome Shell, rather than a problem in GSConnect. Nevertheless, it may be worth considering working around the issue by using only a single-level menu.
