The goal of this proposal is to give Stargates a reason to exist that isn't simply bragging rights.
Add a mechanic to procedurally generate planets and therefore a reason to use a stargate for extremely far away planets
anyways, it goes like this:
you have planets for GC, right?
just make the furthest planets reachable with rockets and add more planets that need stargate seed ship reference to plant stargates on them and these planets have resources that you simply don't get (or in extremely low amounts) in the GC planets
then add some space ship thing so you can technically fly there but it will take an IRL week or something depending on distance and tech and whatever so people can see why they need the gates
Suddenly there's a reason to use gates.
And also would be nice to have production on said planets so you don't have to transport too much via gate for example
Make gate energy draw depend on distance and mass transported, so you have a reason to make special components on the planet and then gate them where they need to go

Currently people just go for "let's make 153916 gates per farthour", which to me feels a bit lackluster tbh.
(yes, I know 153916 gates would be a massive amount of stuff)

With this proposal people would have a reason to actually use gates for things and this would open up new endgame ideas.
