Your Proposal

So, I've been keeping up with some technology changes that NASA are rolling out for the Artemis moon missions, and one thing caught my eye; after the Apollo moon missions, NASA realised that the dust particles on the moon were a huge problem, and if the moon missions had lasted much longer, much of the equipment would have failed, as the dust on the moon is not only full of razor-sharp quartz and silicates that have not been smoothed over via friction like it would on Earth, but the dust is also electrostatically charged by its interactions with the solar wind, and is capable of both damaging and short-circuiting equipment.

I know that GTNH doesn't necessarily have to keep up with the latest scientific knowledge (like Oganesson shown as a gas in-game despite recent scientific theories that it actually exists as a solid...), but this would be a neat thing to include as an early, cheaper introduction to making thermal suits like you have to do for currently Mars onwards, while also making T2 and T3 follow the same changes.

The thermal padding should be made from cotton, iron foil, gold string, and carbon fibre (or GT++'s carbon nanotubes for later padding types, both as an additional requirement to current recipes), all substances readily available before you hit the moon (except Gold String, that's a new item, but fits as an early-game replacement for Meteoric Iron String from the T2 padding). In addition, the chestpiece thermal padding should be combinable with a wearable battery source (like Batpacks or Adv. Batpacks) in an Assembler to produce a chestpiece that very slowly drains EU to provide protection on the moon while it's in the GC chestpiece armor slot; a possible consequence of not wearing this padding (or the power being fully depleted) is the player taking damage over time while on the moon or on other planets and space environments.

This should also be a similar mechanic for T2 and T3+ Thermal with an advantage that should also come with bigger EU storage at the same rate of depletion as before while protecting the player from both dust in planetary environments and the cosmic wind in space environments.

Your Goal

This is mostly to ensure that there is an additional mechanic to keep track of the player's health besides Oxygen supply, as well as serving to introduce the player earlier to the concept of correct extrasolar protection and providing an incentive for wireless chargers in space environments.

Your Vision

The vision is to bring moon exploration a little closer to real-life while at the same time introducing new and important challenges and considerations for players wishing to explore space.
