Lag, NullPointerException when rendering certain volumetric flasks

Scroll down in the Creative Mode menu under the GregTech "Main" section.
Game massively slows down when passing over the volumetric flasks, and a chat message says that there was an error rendering "the item". There is clearly a problem rendering the item, however:
Clicking the item or otherwise obtaining it causes the crash. It seems to happen with different volumetric flasks, but it occurs more often with galacticraft-related ones.
