EHE shouldn't explode unless it runs out of distilled water. My EHE had 15M distilled water and no stocking input hatches. Distilled water was stored in a super tank set to export into the adjacent input hatch. Server produced the following suspicious (due to explosion reference) looking error message.
[02:17:31] [Server thread/INFO] [STDERR]: [java.lang.Throwable$WrappedPrintStream:println:763]: java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "gregtech.api.interfaces.tileentity.IGregTechTileEntity.doExplosion(long)" because the return value of "gregtech.api.metatileentity.implementations.GT_MetaTileEntity_Hatch_Input.getBaseMetaTileEntity()" is null
