I can't seem to find it anywhere but I'm probably just missing something?

It sounds like your firmware might depend on Microchip code? (From http://dangerousprototypes.com/docs/Open_Bench_Logic_Sniffer#PIC_firmware). In the last 6 months, Microchip has released things like their USB stack and other samples under an Apache 2.0 license.
