pins wrong #2

hi i built this but it doesn't work for me. i think the problem might be the pin-out? The LS-30 GND pin is at 7 and if i understand this project correctly it expects the GND pin to be at 13?

I don't know if there's different versions with different pinouts (I know there's a Data East version of the joystick) but one thing I believe is the cable is not 1 to 1 pinout. I think the original cable has an "R" marking and that's the one that plugs into the joystick (maybe that's where ground is at pin 7), and the other end of the cable should map ground over to the end, which is what the circuit expects.
