Good question. Avoiding this limit makes mods more complex I'd wish to 😅

Do you probably mean not presets but parameters? No, this not depend on Fmod version, the limit on 12 parameters per engine event was set because of game performance. When event becomes huge it impacts on CPU usage a lot, we don't need it.
Why did you change and what will it change for us in the project?
We need to update versions of Fmod sometimes because of improvement of performance and various bug fixes done by Firelight (Fmod developer). And, they add various features required by consoles, we need it too.

I'm planning to release fmod project update this Friday, September 22. Important: fmod Studio version has been changed to 2.02.14, please, update Fmod Studio and update your sound mods.
