It is possible to Revive yourself during fade-to-black transition after the game considers you've chosen not to. The stocks indicator counts down one more stock for a late "Revival" and your character will say one of her revival lines, but the transition is imminent and you will be put back to the checkpoint regardless.
Upon respawn the number of stocks will be correct, not taking away the stock that was consumed in a failed Revival attempt.
It isn't possible to perform a late Revival if you had 1 stock before dying.
