What do you have in mind for it?
The suggestions in the doc were good:
I would like to add:
The letter G, stylized, that turns into liquid metal ... and then tries to kill John Connor.
Just kidding about the terminator reference.

Some ideas:
Just ideas! feel free to shoot them down.
First here are the basic colors that I ripped from a chorme logo. using them would allow us to bridge the gap between chrome and the gallium elemental symbol.
And here is a basic atomic symbol for gallium used with the colors. NOTE: This is rough, we would need to shade it better, made make it vector art and also use the right fonts.
also I was going to put linux under the Ga but well, just tell me what you think. Use the colors? differnt pallet? differnt direction altogether?
Thanks for starting the discussion. My opinion is to not use Google's colors. We could do something similar to Chromium's colors or just start on something new.
I like using the Gallium element, but it couldn't really be used in all places like the menu button since it would be too hard to read. I'll try to make some as well this weekend.

Makes sense if we want to scale it down to small size. Spitting out more rough ideas, now without the chrome colors! I really didnt know where to start so I made those. Hopefully this helps us figure out what we dont want so we may better find our perfect logo. Unrefined ideas: One of these might look good if it was touched up and the colors changed a bit.
I think the logo should be circular. That way we can make stickers that perfectly cover the original Chrome logo.
Here is an obese penguin that I made in the GIMP. He needs arms and legs, and a less terrifying stare, but I actually think he's kinda cute.
I like the penguin! +1 Simple, scalable down to icon size and not ugly
I like it also

+1 penguin Google just realeased their new multicolored G what if we did the same with the a and assoicated with Ga in the center.
And a less terrifying stare, but I actually think he's kinda cute.
What about connecting the whites around the eyes and extending it down to almost the tummy so it looks like fur then making eyes a little more ovular vertically and adding a glimer/reflection at the top corner of the eyes?
Roechamboe The idea isn't bad, I actually brought it up in the chat a while ago, but the big problem is that Google has those logos trademarked, and we don't really want to get on Google's bad side.
If we get this logo nailed down ill foot the bill for various size stickers (metallic sticky seals that are difficult to get off).
Sam Hewitt has made this
What do you all think? He wanted to get away from the penguin when I mentioned to him our previous direction.
I like it!
So seems we decided to go with this: https://github.com/opensourcedesign/jobs/issues/58#issuecomment-147214860
Here is the logo in full color and white in SVG and PNG. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/62482708/Gallium%20OS.zip
@hugegreenbug can we put the logo on the website? Also it would be great to use Open Sans as the font for the website, for consistency
We need a logo
