Samsung Chromebook Pro (CAROLINE) No Audio (Dummy Output) #432

Closed jackz314 closed 6 years ago

jackz314 commented 6 years ago

I know that on the official device compatibility list, Caroline was marked with "internal audio problems", therefore the audio would not work as for now, but I want to see if there are people who have made the audio work on Caroline, and are there possible solutions to this problem? Thanks! (A Reddit post if anyone's interested to discuss this issue there)

Audio is working on CAROLINE, but you need packages from the testing repo.

sudo galliumos-repodist --enable testing
galliumos-update
reboot

Oh I see, since I'm also using the GalliumOS' kernel on a dual boot Ubuntu system, where can I download the testing repo kernels (the .deb files)? (I know that the normal ones are located in https://apt.galliumoos.org/pool/main/l/) Thanks!

Update: I tried switching to testing repo on GalliumOS but still got no sound, and I found out that the kernel I've been using on the other Ubuntu system is from the testing repo, so... For reference, the Kernel's version I'm using is 4.14.29-galliumos (#1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Mar 25 03:40:24 UTC 2018), which is supposedly from the testing repo.

@jackz314 It's more than just the kernel. You'll need the Skylake package as well.

If audio isn't working in GalliumOS, we can help. If audio isn't working in another distro with the GalliumOS kernel and some config, there are just too many variables.
