Model: Lenovo Yoga 11e (Baytrail)
Processor Intel (R) CPU N2940 @ 1.83GHZ
Firmware: Full ROM MrChromebox
Version: GalliumOS 2.1
Kernel: 4.8.17-galliumos
Description:
Our chromebooks will freeze when using GalliumOS. A complete freeze, no response from the OS, im forced to do a hard reset (10 seconds on the power button) and to reboot. It seems the freezes happens when using the chromebook for a while. The purpose of our chromebooks are: working on the terminal server (by means of citrix). I've installed Citrix through a sideway (mozilla firefox certificates etc) but i can come to the conclusion that the chromebook freezes both locally and when working on the terminal server environment.
I´ve tried the following solutions:
Updating galliumOS through the gallium update application.
uninstalling xscreensaver
Debugging logs in var/log on logs like: auth, lxdm.log, kern.log, syslog and even x0rg.0.log. I could find nothing.
Add parameter - Add parameter nomodeset =1 to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub I´ve updated grub after ofcourse.
This solution led me to infinite black screen booting , had to manually edit the boot file from grub menu (pressing esc during the boot)
Tried to run a memtest (http://www.memtest.org/#downiso)
Downloaded the usb extracter and tried to boot the created usb on the Chromebook. It gave an error named : EFI USB Device (***) boot failed during boot. So i was not able to check the RAM
