legacy boot mode on the 2013 Pixel is pretty buggy (fan control is broken, for one), so unless you're dual booting, I highly recommend removing the firmware WP screw and flashing my UEFI firmware, then doing a fresh install of GalliumOS
I haven't noticed any problems with fan control, but I'll give it a try and report back. Do you actually have to remove the write protect screw? Some of the posts in my research suggest that you don't.
@Koechophe not sure where you saw that, but you absolutely have to remove the write-protect screw to flash anything other than the RW_LEGACY firmware.
I mistook a comment about updating the RW firmware, rather than reinstalling into uefi.
I removed the write protect screw and reinstalled, and it works like a charm. Now I'll just have to reinstall some fixes I'd used earlier. Thanks!
@Koech so good to close this then?
Closing as buggy stock firmware
I'm running a fresh install of GalliumOS on the chromebook pixel (2013), and every time I shut the lid (or use the suspend button in power management) the system just reboots instead. I've tried various fixes found in the internet, but most are 1-2 years old and none worked. I'm running gallium on the native seabios of the pixel, and it is fully updated.
