release torrents have no seeds #557

I was triing to download latest release via bittorrent, it started with only one source and then it stopped download due to lack of sources ... should we add bittorrent sources to download mirrors?

I'll try to maintain one source myself but I have scarse rosourses.

I mean - no one would ever use bittorrent if download stop randomly in the middle of the process. We need last resort bittorrent source, possibly with limited bandwidth.

I have the resources to seed it on my personal infrastructure, I honestly just haven't thought to do so. I suppose it wouldn't be a terrible idea to host an official seed but the system that hosts downloads is certainly not set up to do that and I'm pretty sure it's something we wouldn't want to implement on there. Additionally, since all of the project's infrastructure is sharing a single very limited internet connection, seeding the torrent from there would defeat the purpose of using BitTorrent, at least to some extent (that is to reduce the strain on our servers from people downloading it). Perhaps a better solution (though not compatible with all clients) would be to provide the official download link as a web seed when we generate the torrent files, though this has the same drawbacks. If web seeds were only used as a fallback if the client is unable to communicate with any peers that'd be pretty slick but I'm fairly sure that's not the case. When there are zero seeders it doesn't matter much either way as users will resort to downloading the iso from our servers when their BitTorrent client doesn't work anyway.

We have been seeding all of the 3.1 ISOs continuously since release four months ago. You might have had a transient network issue. Currently there are between 4-13 seeders for each image.
