I am having the same issue with HP Chromebook 14 x360 SONA
I was able to successfully install Gallium. I unplugged everything and did not enable wifi. The computer did not have internet access during the install. Try that and see if it works. I tried several other distributions but they didn't work as well as Gallium on the chromebook, which i guess is the point. I still cant get the speakers working but i hooked a bluetooth speaker up as a work around. The numbers on the numeric keypad don't work. As i understand it these are known issues and might be fixed if and when 4.0 is released. Looking forward to that. For now i am still using Gallium. Very impressed MrChromeBox. I would like to have better security. The updates say they are unsigned and to use with caution, but of course caution flew out the window when i installed the custom firmware. The last time i updated the software the mouse started jumping around. I wish i could roll it back. Have to look at that.
What do you mean by unplug everything?
Worked for me too! Just do not connect to wifi while installing...
Glad you were able to boot into Gallium. The last two days Gallium has become unstable. The screen flickers and locks up. The screen becomes grey and i have to reboot. But even after the reboot it flickers. Mint was stable but without speaker, microphone and bluetooth so no way yo get sound output. Plus i didn't leave it on there this long so maybe couldn't evaluate sleep wake and stability over days. I am thinking about reinstalling chrome firmware but i don't want to give up. Really don't want chrome, but it was stable. Pure os was not good. Not sure what else to try. Is yours stable? One thing i noticed is crickets here for support. Can you tell if its continuing?
Interesting... I haven't had anything related to flickering or locking up as of yet. Mine seems to be stable apart from the lack of sound and touchscreen, but maybe I haven't been using it long enough. I'll keep you posted if anything changes.
Gallium OS install on HP Chromebook 15 Kabylake. Installed full firmware upgrade. Gallium OS 3.1 boots fine from USB, but install fails. It stops during install with this error and asked if I want to try again or continue? But installation fails if I continue.
I had the same issue with an Asus C202SA, The firmware was up to date using full UEFI.
I found that by not connecting to a network prior to install, the installation worked.
Can verify that even a year and a half later (with GalliumOS 3.1 [Bismuth]), installing only works when not connected to the internet.
