Resume issue with Toshiba Chromebook 2 on GalliumOS 3.1 #611

I have a Toshiba Chromebook 2 2014 Swanky, which has MrChromebox-4.11.1 permanently installed. The newly installed GalliumOS 3.1 (I'm trying to upgrade to it) is installed on a USB stick. Upon resume from sleep, the root filesystem on the USB stick is often read-only and corrupt, and I often need to reboot and fix the filesystem errors. I've repeated this process a few times so it's not an issue with the install.

However, on a different USB stick I have my old GalliumOS 2.1 installed and it continues to not have this issue. Is there some kind of solution?

Appears it was some incompatibility with a particular USB stick.
