Report locations on error #6

In particular, when we encounter things that we do not support, of which there are quite a few at present, we should be clear about what is not support and its location in the source code.

We now have some support for this---it is not ideal but it work. I am not closing this yet, as we could probably have much more informative errors than what we currently do.
