My LDO kit came with 2 LED strips for the left and right sides, leaving the back extrusion open, so this works fine for me, but you could easily design another bracket that would be designed to mount under the extrusion.

As I initially said, "the front side is already used for wiring of the LED strips". Not LEDs, their wires. See https://docs.ldomotors.com/voron/voron-trident/wiring_guide_rev_a#routing-the-led-strips
I can totally design everything from scratch (and most probably that's what I'm gonna do in this case). However, isn't it better to have everything in one place so that people can use the mod in more flexible way? Hence the feature request
Ah, got it. I haven't mounted my LEDs yet, and installed this arm as the first thing to prevent scratching the top panel, so I'll encounter this soon
I looked at the photos again, and in the one with the JST plugs, it looks like the wiring that goes across the back extrusion is on the under side instead of the facing side, so it shouldn't be a problem if you run it that way
Hey sorry forgot to get back to you on this
Is there anything stopping the wire from running in the bottom on the extrusion as per that photo on the LDO site https://docs.ldomotors.com/vt_wire_guide/led_pcb_positioning.jpg
Have a look at this printer
They are already wired in front, which I find better, and I'm redoing this part now that the printer is finished. Plus LDO is not the only kit. There can be other users with different setups and mods, where the front side can also be occupied
Would it really hurt or be super difficult to have flexibility?
I'll design the bottom-mounted bracket for myself, but I don't understand the resistance to make something more flexible and tunable...
The current design assumes that the guide will be mounted using the angle bracket (
Tube mount.stl
) to the front side of the top extrusion. The problem with LDO Voron kits though is that the front side is already used for wiring of the LED strips. At the same time the bottom side of the same extrusion is free.
Would it be possible to have another version of the bracket that will be straight and thus mount to the bottom of the top extrusion?
I.e., something like this:
