Song Ratings #715

I have an idea. (little off-topic from things happening now but ok) ]Song
ratings. It's ALWAYS happening to me when i enter GH2, GH 80's , RB1 , GH3
DLC , and some other folders that i DON'T PLAY TOO MUCH and i DON'T
REMEMBER WHICH SONGS WERE GOOD. So, my point is:

-You have option in the settings to choose what to show in setlist, star
score or star rating of a song.
-Option to turn Song Ratings of or on.
-When you finish a song (if song ratings are on) on the results screen you
put a rating on the song you've played.
-This also puts in a new Sorting, Sort by rating (From 1 to 5)

It'll be very useful, at least for me. Post your opinions about it, guess
coders will take it down sometimes. :)

I had something similiar in mind before but with a favorite list.
You could add songs to favorites and they'd pop up in a special folder or
something.

Of course you could just MOVE the songs you like into a separate folder on your
HD.
That's how I did it, easy and simple.
This has the additional benefit of speeding up your song list significantly,
cos all
the stuff you never play anyway doesn't clog it up.

I also very much like this idea. I have long playing sessions and stopping
every time
after playing I song I like to move it to a different folder isn't that
effective.
Plus, I like a lot of organization to my songs, so if someone fretted a whole
album
and I liked one song more than the rest, if I moved one song to another folder
it
would screw up the album. Also, a folder won't show you what songs you loved
compared
to what you liked.

Could be even better if the rating system worked together with fullcombo.net and
uploaded the rating the player gave to the song to the website - meaning
IN-GAME song
reviews! That would be really cool - though perhaps difficult.

Would be good to have a couple options included. 1) Being able to turn it off
completely, and 2) On, but once for each song. The score could be recorded in
the
song.ini so song.ini organizers could easily clear all ratings.

Or a simplified version - favorites. Just marking in-game what songs you like
best
and it'll place a little star by its name. You could do this after the song is
played, or by assigning a certain button (probably a combination since a lot of
the
buttons are already used).

Also - Sort Setlist By: should include Favorites.

Well, I'm not going to guarantee it gets implemented, but I will take a look at
how
feasible it comes out to be.

Second to this, i had an idea where a favorites list could be made (or high
rated
songs).

An option exists that when you click quickplay a second option comes up "Intant
Start"
or something (a name maybe not so terrible?)

and it would randomly select a song from the favorites menu and get you
straight into
it

I started work on a rating system for FOF a while ago.

http://www.fretsonfire.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=424452#p424452

I haven't worked on it in a long time but as of now it allows users to rate a
song
after they have completed it. The rating is then included in the song.ini for
use
in-game. The rating is displayed during the song selection screen. Users may
also
choose to sort by rating. I never finished the uploading portion of my code but
the
rating is supposed to be sent to a PHP script where it is used to calculate an
average world rating for that song. After that, its use can be endless.

I can port my code over to the latest svn source if wanted. But be warned there
are
bugs (rating number is limited to 1-5 but an input of 55,333,22, ect. isn't
blocked)

make it 0-100? that way we could have a more accurate rating?
