Using a microphone controller makes the game hang on song loading screen #969

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

1. Choose to play with Microphone
2. Select a track with Vocals and start game

This is on version 3.120 RC1 running under Windows 7 64bit

The bug results in the game hanging telling me thats its "Initializing.." -
the only way to get out of it is to use task manager to quit it.

The end of my log reads:
-------------------------------------
(D) Learned about World.SceneCreated, 3 phrases now known.
(D) Song select submenu position tuple: (0.20000000000000001,

Task manager indicates that FoFiX is using about 7% to 10% CPU while its
hanging.

Can you ensure your microphone is configured working properly? (Check in the
controls menu - configure the controller and test it).

On the test screen, the first thee times I try testing it it gives me a steady
value
of 46db and doesn't react to my voice. The fourth time I tried it, it seemed to
be
working. So I went to try a stage, and it hung the same as before.

I've tested different microphones, different tracks and various combinations of
settings and still have the same issue. I don't have another OS installed other
than
Wndows 7 64bit so maybe thats the issue?

I faced the same issue. In my case happened because fofix needs several images
inside
a folder named vocals in current theme, if doesn't find them, hangs instead of
crashing or warn the user.
In RC1 (FoFiX v3.120 RC1 (py2.6 gl3).7z) only MegaLight theme has vocals folder
but
not MegaLight GH3

Ah right, I'll try that when I get home from work, sounds like a pretty easy
code fix
though too.

I would have thought though that the code would do something like "If (images in
theme not found) then: load images from default theme" to guard against such
issues.

This may have been a packaging issue wherein the default vocals folder didn't
get
installed. If that's the case, just copy the vocals folder in the MegaLight
theme to
the data folder and it should work.

Issue set to invalid due to one or more of the following reasons:
1) Age. This issue is considered abandoned.
2) Unrelated. The issue isn't related to FoFiX.
3) Fluke. The issue cannot be reproduced or was fixed long ago. (AKA: It's just
you.)

Feel free to reply if you are certain the issue still exists and is relevant to
FoFiX.
