I know rendertypes were broken in CC, are there perhaps rendertypes that are now broken/unsupported? This could also be related to unsupported campaign scripting.

I have found the solution with AnthonyBF2
It's the materials used in the glowing fusion cutter.
Aspyr doesnt support certain materials on High settings and dialing the lighting down to low/medium gets rid of the fancy material effect and therefore no crashing occurs.
Ah so it is broken materials/rendertypes, that honestly makes sense. Don't really think that's something we can fix via the patch, unfortunately, would be an engine thing

That makes sense. Honestly it doesnt really make that much of a difference and its not worth trying to retroactively change anything for. I would consider this the more definite solution for now.
Solution until told otherwise is to lower lighting to Medium or Lower settings.

As stated, the campaign is able to start just fine and the custom voice even plays in the beginning, however something that spawns after exiting the LAAT gunship causes the game to crash to desktop.
