I have no Idea what causes this but sometimes one of my Kerbals will just decide to commit suicide. If this happens and the kerbal dies, The game will break in a fascinating way:
_I cannot quicksave / quickload
I cannot Save [Freezes the game until I press esc]
I cannot load
I cannot go to the space center / Tracking station / Main menu
I cannot switch vessels [Can't even open the menu for it]
I cannot see my Kerbals on the bottom right
I can EVA using crew transfer but it won't allow me to save
-> EVA into space center, travels back in time to a fixed point._
The way to fix this is to, once a kerbal enters this state, to periodically switch to the vessel with the affected Kerbal until that kerbal is returned to the KSC. If I don't do this their "change per day" will decrease into the negative more and more every second until they brick my save.
I suspect it was my overhaul of factor multipliers that caused this. At first glance, it looks like factor multipliers are combined incorrectly in some ship configurations.
