Alberto, Martin, Reynolds,
I'm not sure if i understand you completely but maybe this is a misunderstanding re how to place your APM on the frame? You need to position your controller differently on the frame depending upon whether you're in + or X mode. So in X configuration the front of the APM should point between the two front arms, in + configuration it should point towards the front arm. Then in the mission planner's level screen you should select the appropriate X or + configuration.
It's very possible I'm misunderstanding the issue so if I have it wrong can you guys explain your problem with more detail? I'm having a hard time understanding the symptoms.

Hi,
I have my arducopter in X....I do not know what happen if you set it up in +.
But the problem I had was the following....I lost two frames because for some
unknown reason (and probably when turning with rudder stick) there is an
instant acceleration of the arducopter that will not stop until you turn down
100% of the throttle stick. Today when I lost the second one...even in the
floor the motors were running with the throttle down. Very strange. First
accident was with firmware version 2.7 and today with the 2.8.
Thanks for your support.
Cheers
AL

Sorry one extra thing which might be useful.....These behaviours have not
happened straight away after loading firmaware and setting up model....I did
5-8 flights and then this happened......in both cases.

Sorry for the mistake in the description. Of course, my copter is in the "X
configuration", not +. Apm is in the correct orientation, everything worked
until I was updating soft. Everything was done correctly, I have experience as
I did it many times. The problem appeared when tested in hand. When I flew
(protection in the form of power cut off on ch 8). The problem was not there.

@alberto,
it sounds like some kind of parameter corruption or a brown-out. 2.8.1 has a watchdog so if the mainloop fails the motors will shutdown after 2 seconds.
I'd really like to see some dataflash or tlogs from any or all of you. PM me
or email directly to rmackay9@yahoo.com
