Joystick breaks as mavlink connects #533

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Attach joystick, launch Mission Planner, confirm joystick works (it does)
2. Connect to APM
3. Watch as joystick axes stop working as RCX params load in mavlink

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect joystick to continue working once mavlink connection is established, in 
order to use joystick for control.  Instead, as mavlink RC params load the 
joystick axes stop working one by one.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
 APM 2.5 MissionPlanner-1.2.27 windows 8 on parallels mac

Please provide any additional information below.
