Update Charity Commission

What's your idea?

Automatically update Charity Commission data based on our Single source of truth.

Why?

The Charity Commission, as well as many funders, require that Geek.Zone data is kept up to date so that it can be displayed publicly in our charity commission listing. We currently need to copypasta this from our systems into the Charity Commission GUI, which not only takes a significant amount of time but also has no guarantee that it will be reliably kept up to date, due to human availability.

Send the following to the Charity Commission as soon as it changes.

• Annual Accounts
• Trustee Annual Report
• Number of volunteers; sum of members of #47 where volunteers=true
• Postal address
• telephone number
• email address
• website
• Trustee details for all trustees
  • Trustee Full Name
  • Trustee Title
  • Trustee Suffixes & post-nominals
  • Trustee Date of birth
  • Trustee Home Postal address
  • Trustee Alternate postal address for contact
  • Trustee email address
  • Trustee telephone number
  • Trustee Position Trustee/Contact/Chair - only one chair allowed
• Care Quality Commission registration number
• Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) registration number
• Estyn: Her Majesty's Inspectorate For Education And Training In Wales registration number

• Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) registration number

I have submitted this request to the CC and will advise when I hear back from them.

The Charity Commission have advised that the CC API does exist but that it is not capable of receiving data from charities. They have passed our feedback on to the team.

I am glad that CC does have an API, however it is mission critical for us to be able to send data to the CC, rather than simply receive it.

Unfortunately there are no plans to roll out this type of API currently. To update the data displayed on the website, charities must use our Update Charity Details function. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Hopefully the CC will review this in the near future.
