How about we move up "geographic location datum" to data item. Your right it isn't really a measurement. There are already more specific lat/long OBI terms, which I see already have measurement datum as parent. I guess geographic location datum could still have the OBI terms as children. Or as you say we create a new "geographic measurement location datum" - maybe OBI would even take that to house its lat / long.
"geographic location datum" http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/GENEPIO_0001654 is defined as "A geographical location datum is a datum that refers to a real, hypothesized or fanciful spatial location", but it is located under "measurement datum" http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/IAO_0000109 which is defined as "A measurement datum is an information content entity that is a recording of the output of a measurement such as produced by a device."
It seems (to me) like this should actually be a "geographic location measurement datum" (updating the definition and the label) so that it makes sense in relation to the parent class and so that we can have a more general "geographic location datum" term that isn't for measurement outputs. For example, I think it makes sense that a longitude coordinate belongs under "geographic location measurement datum" but it wouldn't make sense to put a country or even a fantastical place like "The Shire" because how are these measurements?
