Feature Request: Heatmaster 2 #660

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Greetings.

I've been using OHM in conjunction with Rainmeter to display the values of my
Heatmaster Fan controller for a good while now. Sadly, it broke, and you can't
get it anymore. Would it be possible to add support for it's successor, the
Heatmaster 2 ?

Best Regards.

I don't have any documentation of the communication protocol used for the
Heatmaster 2. To start an implementation this would be required.

If the Heatmaster 2 is still using a virtual serial port (on an USB connection)
one could perhaps log the communication and deduce the protocol from that. A
start would be to try and log the com port communication with PortMon

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896644.aspx

Depending on the complexity of the protocol it could still be a lot of work to
get an implementation from that.
