Update publications lists #26

Open only1chunts opened 4 years ago

only1chunts commented 4 years ago

We have a page for GSC related publications: https://github.com/GenomicsStandardsConsortium/gensc.github.io/blob/master/pages/about/publication-list.md But it doesn't appear to have been updated since 2015!

To do Find and add all relevant articles since 2015

comment from @folker :

I recommend to use google scholar or something instead of a manual curated page. this will get neglected and look funny in a few months/years.

I agree 👍 So lets change this ticket to be a task to find a way to embed a google scholar (or similar not-blocked in China alternative). This might be trickier than initially thought due to the fact the GSC is not an institution so is generally not listed in the authors' institutes. So we will need to define the search criteria that will be used.

Since GSC has a foundational google account we use that (and curate the content via that account).

Publications page, edited, with NCBI collections. Cheers, Lynn

only1chunts commented 3 years ago

thanks @lschriml . I think we also need to remove almost all the current list displayed on the page perhaps just leaving the current "Please Cite GSC as..." paper. It would also be beneficial to add a line or two of text with each of the links to the NCBI collections to give details of exactly what is included in those collections There is currently a list of "Meetings reports" also included in that page, do we want those here, or should they be somewhere else?

@only1chunts - I will refine the page, good points. I can make collections for the meeting reports, and projects. Maybe leave one paper in the page as an example.

Cheers, Lynn

@lschriml I've updated the new website publications page to include the collections you have created. I wanted to add the recommendation of which publication people should cite if they need to cite general GSC work in their publications, but I'm not sure which publication to suggest?

Hello Chris, most often, people cite the MIxS paper
