Definition - soil horizon is defined as the layer parallel to the soil surface whose physical, chemical and biological characteristics differ from the layers above and beneath. Horizon can be described both in absolute terms (particle size distribution for texture, for instance) and in terms relative to the surrounding material, i.e. ‘coarser’ or ‘sandier’ than the horizons above and below.

We agree with @only1chunts .

ENVO will be working on terms for soil horizons.

OK. so there is no need to add the new term MIXS:0001291, instead, we will update MIXS:0001082, see ticket #232 for the update.
