There is probably a power supply issue or damaged USB cable… scrcpy is just a piece of software opening sockets and transferring data.

Thanks for the answer. It's not the cable, I have different cables. I guess it must be the power supply, the broken ports all only have a trickle of power coming out of them. But that means that charging a tablet over a USB port can break the power supply to that port, is that true?

Sorry, I have no idea.
I used this for quite a while on my dell optiplex 3020. But one day it stopped working, so I used a different USB port, worked fine for a day or so. Then it didn't work on that port, so I used a different USB port, worked fine for a day or so. This happened over and over for 6 USB ports. I saved two for my keyboard and mouse. The rest are all dead, nothing is recognized when I plug anything into them.
