Geoera HOVER WP3 – Task 3-5c product for thermal and natural mineral waters – multilingual legends #315

Closed fire-bot closed 3 years ago

fire-bot commented 4 years ago

Sent by Elster, Daniel. Created by fire.

Dear all,

we have to provide a multi-lingual legend for our product according to the HOVER proposal. However, I am not sure what needs to be translated from our side (WP3 participants). Please find the overview of our contents that we would like to show below.

Many thanks for your support!
Daniel

If you are using a WMS to present your data, one way of having multilingual legends would be to to have different layers per language you want to be be represented. You may also use a separate style per language.

elsdan commented 4 years ago

thank you for your reply! We actually chose NetCDF as a format (previously csv). So I assume that we should translate all legends first with support from the WP3 participants.

nmtoken commented 4 years ago

I would say yes, I don't know yet how the EDGI platform will work with NetCDF files, but I assume a similar functionality to WMS/WCS raster layers.

bgsmase commented 4 years ago

@elsdan @mh-geus-dk Reviewing this issue in latest WP8 meeting, none of us know how or whether multi-lingual legends will be possible for NetCDF data in the EGDI platform. Can we get any further progress on this?

mh-geus-dk commented 4 years ago

I'll discuss this issue with our developers. It is possible to upload a legend as a bitmap but I'm not sure if this can handle several languages. /Martin

mh-geus-dk commented 3 years ago

The EGDI platform does not support multi language legends. As we find it a good idea we have added multi language legends as well as dynamic legend (where the legend match the part of the map / data currently shown on the map) to work programme for the coming CSA.

elsdan commented 3 years ago

Hi! Thank you for your replies, shall we wait for a technical solution? Meanwhile, shall I prepare any information for the multi lingual legends? Best wishes Daniel

bgsmase commented 3 years ago

It has been confirmed that multi-lingual legend capability will not be added during the GeoERA project although it has been added to a list of features for proposed future developments. Closing issue.
