Updates for dark mode and ui #24

Hello,

I did some updates for this extension to use it in dark mode by adding a general white background. I also made some adjustments to the UI, where it was actually hard to use it.

I'm in the process of going through existing PRs, this should be done by EOD. I'm expecting some conflicts with your PR afterwards (especially one that already partially deals with dark theme, but I feel yours is more holistic). Could you go through them and resolve I will then review and integrate your PR.
