Sure it will be Friday , but from memory it says it the normal steam stuff followed by a one word error like segfault

hello, i'm back on my laptop now (this problems happens with both my laptop and my desktop) I'm unable to install gnome as my main desktop due to a 3rd party driver:(

@xpd259 Sigh. Tried building a new version of the package, but unfortunately, Steam will not run with glibc 2.17 because wheezy's linker is to old :( . Steam keeps getting new updates to be compatible with the latest software, and wheezy just keeps getting older and less compatible; honestly, I would recommend doing a fresh install of jessie.

@GhostSquad57 sadly I use a HDMI capture card (black magic intencity pro) and with jessie it seems once the kernel module is loaded I can no longer use CDROMs or USB drives so stuck on wheezy but will give it ago again thank you very much for the work you have put in

I tried tracing the child process with this:

Seems like that steam tries to open the directory in many ways. According to trace result, it tries to open with xdg-open first, then gvfs-open if failed.

I added "export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=" into "/usr/bin/xdg-open" script, and it works. Therefore I think it is also related to runtime linking :)
