Basically, when you make a new translation for a new thing, it doesnt get automatically added to the en_us.txt file, or any others for that matter. This is a problem, as then the message throws an error and doesnt print at all, which is sort of a problem. I think I got a solution, which would be to separate out the list of translations which is inside world-edit.sc to a global file which is always automatically saved to the translations map, and then we check if the incoming files have all the translations, and if not we just add the missing ones, instead of replacing them, so that then the old translations work, and the new ones as well.
