Discussion: Lesson Planner chat sends unwanted notifications to parents #1719

Problem

We have recently found out that in the lesson planner, the chat function sends messages to all parents. Is that a feature or a bug? Right now, we're not interested in parents taking part in lesson planning discussion and feedback. Is there a way to turn off notifications to parents in the lesson planner chat/discussion post?

Proposed Solution

I think one should be able to select who the conversation is with, or be able to send messages individually.

Alternatives

Have another way for teachers, teaching assistants, coordinators and principals to discuss lesson planning away from parents.

Hi @paulteach, this is not the expected behaviour, I've double-checked the code and can confirm that it should only send to teachers and students of the class the lesson plan is attached to. Is is possible that the parent's email had been set as the email address of the student in the class?

As a note, anything posted on chat is visible to anyone who views the lesson plan, so it's not necessarily intended as an area to discuss lesson planning amongst teachers.
