Issue with built-in Action Replay Carts. #4

With the new firmware V1.28 - 3.7 there is an issue with the built-in Action Replay cartridges. With AR 6.0 if I press F7 to install Fastload, it takes me to the Action Replay Menu, and pressing F3 does not take me back to the BASIC command prompt. With AR4.2, pressing F7 shows the fastloader installed, but the system freezes and there is no blinking cursor.

I seem to be having no trouble with the plugins on my Ultimate 64 with V1.28 - 3.7 on my U64.

Are you using a 1541Ultimate 2 or Ultimate 64 with the firmware upgrade? Is REU enabled? If so, try disabling it. That might work. I remember having that kind of trouble before, and disabling the REU did the trick.

I'm using the Ultimate 64 with the most recent firmware upgrade. I'll check to see if REU is enabled and see if that is my problem.....

I disabled the REU and rebooted. I'm still having the same issue with the action replay carts. No luck there.

Try downgrading the firmware to the last version you had working on Action Replay. If it works then there is a bug in V1.28 - 3.7 otherwise try doing a factory reset. WARNING: This will restore the Ultimate 64's settings to its original state, but the firmware will still be in tact. This means that you will need to edit the U64's settings in the menu, i.e. sound, video, devices, etc.

Well, a factory reset fixed it. Don't know what the actual problem was. It was something to do with my config. All working again for now. Thanks for the help.

I'm glad that fixed the problem. Could be something to do with cartridge options perhaps? There are three options for cartridge. Internal / External / Auto. External is for physical cartridges. This means it is possible to use a physical cartridge. Internal allows you to use a built in cartridge. Factory Reset resets to default settings, as what you would get on first having the Ultimate 64. The only thing that does not change is the firmware version.
