The typo I missed the first time around, and "higher-order" is better, it seems also in this context.
I'm familiar with AD, not e.g. really einsum) or how everything fits together. I saw your paper link, but may need link to higher level stuff for this and for background to understand. I just made a PR since this all seems very intriguing.
The Ni part, the Chinese logogram, is there a story behind the name? It not obvious at least nor easily googlable.

逆 means reverse, also have the meaning of rebellion. I choose it because it is a cool character suitable for logo, just as 幺 (unitary) in https://github.com/QuantumBFS/Yao.jl .
