I will be releasing a version of the randomizer that actually recognizes the "known world" (a rectangle containing the six known kingdom capitals) and adds the flag to eliminate storms in that rectangle.
I have a map of the world overlaid with event regions. There are 5 storm regions in the original game: 1) West Africa, 2) Off the south tip of India, 3) The Phillipene Sea (like, all of it), 4) Hawaii, and 5) The Caribbean and Bermuda Triangle.
Oh, that's good to hear you're still planning to work on it! Any way to make the NPC fleets not get stuck?
So I've played the original UWNH hundreds of times, but I'm pretty sure storms weren't nearly as aggressive as they seem to be in this randomizer. I've had times I couldn't even open my menu and pull up the anchor before another storm set up. I loaded up with like 20 days of food and tried to just stop and go along the coast, waiting each one out, they are endless and non-stop, even in the height of storm seasons along the coast of Africa they were never this bad in the original game. I know this can be easily mitigated with balms or goddess figureheads, but this also makes it impossible to start some games. I had a seed where I started with a tiny ship and as soon as I left port as Pietro, a storm would set up within 1 - 3 tiles of movement and instantly sink the ship and the whole surrounding coastline was desert so I couldn't land anywhere.
Maybe add a seed option on rom generation to remove storms if this isn't a fixable issue?
Suggestion/Idea: Any way to randomize the item shops themselves? That way I'm not making a beeline straight to Naples for my crusader armor when I've got the gold? XD
