subtrees added to repo #2

Hi Gio,

I have added the scanners as subtrees, unmodified so far. I chose subtrees over submodules because they feel more integrated into the local tree, giving us more control. If you want to play with submodules, I have a submodules branch in my repo, and the steps are also documented in the devnotes.

Going with subtrees, you might want to add the remotes as described in the devnotes.

I'll be adding issues for further development steps as you requested. Good idea!
