Bosean FS-5000: Startup and game glitches #135

I've been experiencing some small issues while using Radpro on my Bosean FS 5000:

  1. Random glitch: The device starts constantly beeping with a red LED for about 3 seconds, then it returns to normal. Not a big issue.

  2. Playing the chess game often randomly crashes and turns off the Geiger Counter.

  3. I've also noticed that after the update, the J321 tube is now affected by UV light from the sun and reacts a lot to my UV 365nm torch. Before the update, I tried my UV light and it didn't react.

Thank you for your hard work on the software. I really enjoy using it!

Hello there,

thanks for the feedback! Could you post a short video illustrating the first and second issue? If the file doesn't fit in GitHub discussions, use a file sharing service.

Regarding the third issue: on the FS-5000, the high voltage is controlled by hardware, not by software. So this issue is most likely caused by some other factor (perhaps humidity, temperature or device wear).

Sure heres a video of the game crashing

I can't get the beeping gitch on video because it doesn't happen often

It would be greatly helpful if you could capture the first bug in a video.

Also, could you please post another video showcasing the second problem? Try pressing the buttons much more slowly. I have a suspicion and this second video would greatly help in finding the culprit.

And: could you flash the original firmware and see how the tube reacts to UV light?

I flashed the firmware and found that the original firmware is now also reacting to UV light, which is strange. I'm 100% sure that it didn't do that before, so it must have something to do with humidity, temperature, or device wear, as you were saying. I tried to capture the game crashing by pressing the buttons slowly, but it wouldn't crash. So I guess I was just pressing the buttons too fast, which led to the crash. I still couldn't catch the first bug on video; it happened twice but went away before I could catch it on video.

Noahtheg: your report was very useful. It does not seem to crash but rather to turn off nicely. I think the problem is related to the keypress handler, not the game.

Once I find the time, I'll take a look at this.

Awesome, thanks for all your hard work on this firmware!

I have been unable to replicate the problem. If someone is able to diagnose this any further, please post here.
