Onscreen keyboard not showing. #60

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start aDOXBox
2. Press Menu
3. Press Onscreen Keyboard
4. Nothing happens

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Should show the on screen keyboard

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
aDOSBox v0.2.5 on HTC Desire HD (Android 2.3.3)

Please provide any additional information below.
The on screen keyboard pops up "behind" aDOSBox (pressing the Home-button will
bring you to your home screen with the keyboard visible). A workaround is to go
into the menu and edit any textfield (which in turn brings up the on screen
keyboard). After that the on screen keyboard can be toggled with the
menu-option.

HTC desire S (Android 2.3). I have the same problem. The workaround mentioned
didn't work for me.

Same with my ViewSonic ViewPad 7 (Android 2.2) :-(
And the workaround doesn't work either: I tried editing the application data
directory, which shew up the keyboard, but it disappeared when I closed the
menu, and didn't show back when I clicked the menu option.

I am on HTC Sensation(Gingerbread). Onscreen keyboard doesn't work at all. But
still happy to see MS.DOS on my HTC.

Possible HTC Sensation work around.
menu->SDL Settings->Where to download application data->Specify
directory->click OK->click OK->click OK->menu->OnScreen keyboard
This works until quit and restart.

Same issue with v0.2.5 on HTC Desire original (Android 2.3).

A reliable and simple workaround: with aDOSBox open, hold the Menu button of
the device for a couple of seconds then let go. Do this again for a second
time. After this, you will be able to open the on-screen keyboard as expected
(from Menu, via icon etc.).

Explanation:
Holding the Menu button is a system-level shortcut for opening/closing the
on-screen keyboard (works in other apps too).

Had same issue on my Viewsonic Viewpad 7. It seems that factory TouchPal can't
go 'over' the application; downloading newer keyboard (for example new TP) app
helped me.
