This PR adds FreeCAD models of the redesigned, simplified, new stls that have been floating around Glia for a few years and removes the files of the previous design.
This PR does not currently update the bill of materials or assembly instructions.
In nearly all cases I matched the freecad model to accurately reproduce the new stls except for the following changes:
Angled drafts on neck_led_holder were slightly assymmetric. I made them symmetric
Notch in battery holder was assymetric by 0.5 mm. I made it symmetric
The lens holder curved surfaces (in lens_large and lens_small) are slightly different from the original stls due to how FreeCAD's "Groove" feature works. However the two parts as exported from FreeCAD are consistent with each other and I've printed them and they mate without issue with a cut lens in both PLA and PETG.
Added a notched clearance to battery_holder on bottom edge of battery compartment cavity to aid with insertion of the battery compartment.
I've assembled an otoscope (at least the plastic bits) in PLA and PETG. In PLA these assemble fine, however it is prone to cracking. In PETG when supports are used this can lead to gumminess that requires cleaning with an exacto knife before parts fit together. This can be addressed in the future by tweaking the freecad models or by doing some adjustments in slicer (such as scaling parts slightly, or changing support options)
The following screenshots show the freecad models:
