V3 events stats #127

This PR adds the get_events_stats function. We may run into a merge conflict ( I don't expect it to be severe) as we merge in both the v3_get_events_post and this branch because they both branch off from v3_events. This branch includes the old get_events function and the post branch has deleted that function and added the new one. We'll see, maybe it won't be a problem.
