The library allows for monitoring multiple chat rooms at the same time. This doesn't seem to fit a really common use, but there might be situations in which this makes sense, like when a stream is shown in multiple channels at the same time or if you'd want to read messages from other lesser-used channels on the side.
An implementation could show those messages at like 80% visibility and the channel name somewhere in front of the message.
