Burn to the ground the search processor method #335

I don't even know what's going on in that method. It's messy as all hell, hard to debug and tbh searching just isn't working in general and I have a feeling it has something to do with that method.

The method is still reasonably complex (score of 6 I think) but it's much tidier than it was.
