4 years ago Gah, I’m really, really sorry that happened to you. I was just thinking about this the other day, actually.
I think I have the solution, which is to basically make your GC settings exportable with a UI in the settings window for managing your GC configs. “GC’s GC-BTT” is my personal config, which was meant to serve as a template for more advanced users to use to make their own “easy restore” settings buttons. But the reality is that literally nobody does that and I need to provide an automated way to manage your GC preferences.
As a short-term fix, I will relocate the “Restore” controls to their own tab so you can’t accidentally click them while the settings window is loading.
Since GC is getting more popular recently, I’ll definitely prioritize the short-term fix for the next release. I definitely do not want people losing their settings this way.

So i just lost all my settings, which took me quite a long time to get right, because in the wait for the settings window to appear, just milliseconds before it did i happened to click just where the 'Default Settings' button is, and it took that click. Not a great experience, and quite dangerous behaviour that these buttons in the 'Restore' section do this without any confirmation.
'Check for Existing Settings' didn't bring them back. And while we're on the subject - there is nothing to tell you what the 'GC'S GC-BTT' button does!
